[previous post in the series - #5 Not Paying Zakat]
The Sixth Major Sin - Not Fating On A Day Of Ramadan Without Excuse.
Allah (swt) says in the Quran:
“O you who believe, fasting is ordained for you, as it was ordained for those before you, in order that you gain Taqwa (conscious of Allah) - for a fixed number of days. But if any of you is ill or on a journey, the (required) number (is to be made up) of other days. (Surah Al-Baqarah 2:183-184)
Ibn ‘Omar (ra) reported Allah’s messenger (saw) as saying: “Islam is built on five things: The Shahada (witnessing that there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah and that muhammad is His servant and messenger), the Prayer, the Zakat, The Hajj, and the Sawm (fasting) during Ramadan”. (Bukhari and Muslim)
The Prophet (saw) also said: “The one who did not fast on a (particular) day of Ramadan without a (Valid) excuse will not be able to make it up by fasting a (whole) lifetime, even if he were to do that” (Ibn Majah, Abu Dawoud, Tirmithi and Ahmad)
Fasting on Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, not observing it, is a major sin and denying it, lead to Disbelieve.
O Allah give us strength and patience to fast on the month of Ramadan, and keep us steadfast on Your religion.
In the next post InshAllah we will explain about Major Sin # 6 - Not Fasting On A Day Of Ramadan Without Excuse.
