Why do we worship Allah?

How do we worship Allah?

How do we perfect this worship?

And what are the levels of worshiping Him?

Shaykh Yasir Qadhi answers these questions by taking us on a journey of the very purpose of our existence, the worship of Allah (swt).

This is one of his best lectures MashaAllah and I love to come back and listen to it from time to time.

And that brings us to another great lecture as if it has been made as a continuation to Shaykh Yasir’s lecture. The Day of Judgement by Saed Rageah.

Anytime you that you think your Faith is getting weak, and you lose the purpose of this world to the world itself, remember these two Ayat from the Quran-

“I have only created man and jinn for the sole reason of worshipping Me” (Surah Adh-Dhariyat 51:56)

and,

“Do you then think that We had created you in jest, and that you would not be brought back to Us (for account)?” (Surah Al-Mu'minun 23:115)

Bismillahi Ar-Rahman Ar-Rahim.

Assalamu ‘Alykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

I have been thinking to make a series on the Major Sins for a long time, but I didn’t do it because one of the bloggers here in islamicink.com started to do it before me, and I thought why do the same if someone else is already doing it?

Anyway, I can’t find the link to that blog anymore because it has been a while since it has been updated. And actually he only wrote 2 or 3 posts on the subject. So I thought, maybe now I can start it here.

Inshallah, in this series I will try to explain what is a Major Sin in Islam and what are the major sins. The series will be base on the great work of Imam Adh-Dhahabi- Al Kaba’ir.

About the Author

His name is Shamsuddin Muhammad bin ‘Uthman At-Turkmani, Al Fariqi, Ad-Damishqi, Ash-Shafi’i. And he is known by the name of imam Adh-Dhahabi.

Adh-Dhahabi was born in Damascus in the year 673H / 1274 A.D. He acquired his vast knowledge of the Quran and The Sunnah from the scholars of Syria, Egypt, and Hijaz (K.S.A of today), traveling far and wide for this purpose. In one of his books, he listed more than one thousand three hundred scholars, including all the great and famous scholars of his time, from whom he benefited directly and by reading their works.

Adh-Dhahabi carried out many scholarly duties in Damascus. When, in the year 741H, he lost his eyesight, he stopped writing and confined himself to teaching until his death in the year 784H / 1348 A.D, at the age of seventy four according to the solar calendar.

Adh-Dhahabi left behind him more than ninety scholarly works in the sciences of the Hadith, History, Biography and various other subjects. According to his Introduction of the book, Al Kaba’ir- The Major Sins – he wrote it for the benefit of the students of the Quran. However, over the centuries, this work has been found beneficial for the generality of Muslims. May Allah grant him His blessings and eternal reward!

I ask Allah (swt) to make this series of posts beneficial to all of us, and to make us far from sins Inshallah.

“Today America is the home of an interesting assortment of sins that are handpicked from all over the nations that existed before us: the obstinacy of the people of Nuh; the arrogance of the people of Aad; the rejection of Allah’s signs by the people of Thamud; the sodomy of the people of Lut; the financial deviance of the people of Shuayb as America is the biggest dealer and promoter of the interest based economy; the oppression of Abu Jahl et al; the greed, deception, love of the temporal life, and the bogusness of the children of Israel; along with the arrogance of the Pharaoh who had the misled notion that just because he is the leader of the most powerful nation on earth and is at the top the greatest army of his time he can somehow defeat the servants of Allah”.

Imam Anwar Al Awlaki with an interesting perspective about the economic crisis
that is going on in the US.

you may agree with him, and you may not.
but surely there is somthing in what he is saying, and one does not have to be economist to know that. the begining of the end… Wallahu A’alam.

Asalamu ‘Alaykom Wa Rahmatu Allah Wabarakatuhu.

Alhamdulillah, Ramadan is over, the Eid is over, and the devils are loose again to fight with us and tempt us in the struggles of life.

in these days, we should ask ourselves what did we gain from the holy month of ramadan, and what should we keep on doing, in order not to lose it.
so what is after ramadan you ask?
keep on making the du’a -

“O Allah, Who turns the hearts, keep our hearts steadfast upon Your Deen.”

and try to implement these 10 things:
(By Sheikh `Abdullah Ibn Jibreen)

1. Seek Allah’s support, beseeching Him Almighty to guide you to the right path and help you remain steadfast in faith. Allah Almighty has praised the supplication of those who are of sound understanding when they have said: “…Our Lord! Let not our hearts deviate (from the truth) after You have guided us, and grant us mercy from You. Truly, You are the Bestower.”
(Surah Ali-Imran 3:8)

2. Be keen on being in the company of the righteous and attending dhikr meetings such as religious lectures or visiting a righteous friend to make dhikr (remembrance of Allah) together.

3. Acquire knowledge about the biographies of the Prophet’s Companions (may Allah be pleased with them all) and the righteous believers by reading books and listening to tapes. This will stimulate you to keep firm in faith and follow in their footsteps.

4. Listen to tapes that deal with religious admonitions and righteous speeches.

5. Be keen on observing the obligatory acts of worship.

6. Keep on offering supererogatory acts of worship; do what you are most inclined to and can do regularly, even if it is little. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said,

“the best deeds to Allah are the incessant ones, even though they may be few.”

7. Start learning Allah’s Book by heart. Recite what you have learned during Prayer and keep reciting the Qur’an as much as you can.

8. Perform dhikr a lot and ask Almighty Allah for forgiveness. This may seem a tiny good act, yet observing it regularly increases faith and strengthens the heart.

9. Keep away from every thing that may cause your heart to divert from the right path such as bad people, indecent television programs, pornographic pictures, and love songs.

10. Last, but not least in importance, truly repent to Almighty Allah and be keen on not deviating from the right path again. Allah Almighty rejoices when His bondman returns to Him Most High in true repentance.

Dear brother and sister, do not be one of those who do not pay heed to Allah Most High except in Ramadan. The righteous predecessors said about them, Woe to those people who do not become mindful of Almighty Allah but in Ramadan!
fast six days in this month (shawwal) and reestablish the high levels of Taqwa you had in Ramadan.

May Allah help you and me to be steadfast in the right path until we reach the following Ramadan in best health and condition.
AMEEN
